Hi, I'm Julia
I've had the opportunity to teach, coach, develop and lead teams, build systems and strategy, raise significant funds, and scale organizations across the nonprofit and social impact sectors. I care about keeping people whole through times of organizational growth, challenge, and change. I bring that same spirit and drive to partnering with you and your team. Together we can enhance what's already working, bring extra capacity to challenging areas, and create systems and processes that codify and sustain your work.
Outside of work, you'll probably find me trying to catch some sun on a hike, collecting more books than I could ever read (some people have a wine cellar, I have a library), or tending to my out-of-control plant obsession. I'm a huge women's sports fan and advocate, I serve on the Black Girls Love Math board, and I'm the lesser half of my amazing partner, Steve. Add in trying to keep up with my 14 year old daughter, my 12 year old son, our dog Autumn, and our cat Tilda, and it is beautiful chaos.
What drives this work for me: creating the conditions for people to thrive, at work and at home.

Three Ways to Partner
Every organization needs something different, so this can happen in many different ways. These are three examples of ways we can work together.
Fractional Leadership
I become part of your team. Sometimes the budget or scope of work doesn't warrant a full time hire, but you need someone with real, senior level experience who can step in and add value right away. Other times it's about having a steady hand through a transition.
Consultative Services
I become an extension of your team. I can support any project, whether it's continuing something that's already started, codifying something you've already finished, or partnering with you on something brand new from start to finish.
Collaborative Consultation
I become an additional capacity on your consultative project. When you have a client or project that needs an extra set of hands, I can jump in and support you with the work.

Listen First
I seek to understand your unique context. You are the expert of your experience and your organization. I listen and ask questions before providing answers and solutions.
Values Alignment
Clarity about what we believe, personally and organizationally, is what keeps this work honest and equitable. Straying from our values costs us: our ability to lead, our relationships, our standing with the people who trust us. I hold myself to that same standard in every partnership.
Accessible by Design
Every organization deserves good support, regardless of budget. Cost shouldn't be the reason you can't get what you need. My fees flex on a sliding scale to meet you where you are.
Collaboration Over Competition
Our sector often treats funding, space, and the people we serve as things to compete over. I don't believe we move forward that way. A rising tide lifts all boats, and if we're serious about liberation, the belief that I'm not free until you are free, we have to operate differently.
Staying Small, On Purpose
This work is relational. Connection and purpose are what make it meaningful. Keeping my organization small allows me to build real relationships and trust with the people I work with, and change really does only happen, as adrienne maree brown puts it, when we "move at the speed of trust."
